SYMPTOMS:
I am unable to play Civ 3 on my MacBook. The icon bounces in the dock and disappears.

RESOLUTION:
This is caused by a conflict with the video chipset found in the MacBook 13". In order to resolve this issue you will need to run the game in a window.

-Hold down the Apple/CMD key and launch the game
-Keep holding the Apple/CMD key until the Advanced Preferences Window appears
-Select to launch the game in a window
-Click OK

NOTE: Make sure you have all Apple updates, as well as the Intel Universal Binary patch for this game prior to launching.

I have the exact same problem Jason described, but holding the Apple key while opening does nothing on my MacBook; The game simply crashes 1-2 seconds after I try to open it.

Hmm.. CIV 3 got left behind from patch? Supporting old but great games is important for Mac Gamer. We are really frustrated Apple's transition from PPC to Intel and from Leopard to Lion.
