Doom 3

I just downloaded Doom 3 from the App Stpre and realized that the "mod" tab doesn't work. I was wondering if there could be a fix where loading mods (including ones that update the graphics) would be integrated into an update for Doom 3 (Mac).

I saw on some forums that you have to load the mods into the base files (game04.pak area). I'm not sure if you, as publishers, could possibly make the mod-loading easier? As a hard-core fan, out of many fans, of the game series and of modifying an already wonderful game, I think many people would like to see that happen.

The process for installing mods is slightly different for Mac users:

Steps to install mods on Doom 3 MacApp:

1. Find and download the mod.  It should unzip automatically into a folder with the mod's name.
2. In Finder, open Library/Application Support/Doom 3. If you are in OSX 10.7 (Lion) you will have to access your Library folder through Finder. Open Finder, select Go from the application menu (the bar on the top of your screen) and enter "~/Library".  This will open your Library folder in a finder window.
3. Place the entire mod folder into your Doom 3 folder.  Do NOT remove the .pk4 file and place that in your base folder. The path should be Library/Application Support/Doom 3/Mod Folder/mod.pk4
4. When you launch the game your mod should show up in the Mods list.

That should do the trick. Let us know if you need further assistance.

this is probably the completely wrong thing to bring up something like this but what about the Doom 3 expansion pack?

We don't currently have plans for expansions, but that might be a possibility in the future.

I downloaded mods and they appear on my mods list, the extra levels worked on multiplayer for a while but not anymore, they still appear on the mods list but seem no longer accessible, any idea of what happened? I'm running on Snow leopard (10.6.8). The game runs beautifully on my Mac Pro after some initial hesitation the very first time I loaded it (maybe had to many windows opened) and I would love to see the 'Resurrection of Evil' extension as many of us who want to enjoy the full experience of Doom 3.

Unfortunately since we do not create or test mods, we cannot troubleshoot issues that might arise when using them. The only thing i can suggest is to uninstall them, and try again.

Thanks! I did manage to reload one of them but the other makes the game quit. Are there any mods for Mac where you can do CO-OP?
