I purchased and just installed Guitar Hero: Aerosmith on my home theatre PC. It is running an AMD Phenom x4 CPU with 2GB of RAM and an Nvidia 8800Gt graphics card. This setup had been working perfectly with Guitar Hero III/ But with GH: Aerosmith it fails to launch. When I dbl-click the icon it does the DVD verification (hourglass changes to a CD/DVD icon), then after a few seconds a black window pops up and immediately disappears. That's it... no errors, no nothing. Just dies. Nothing in the Windows event logs either.

I should mention that I have tried a number of things...
Running in WinXP SP2 compatibility mode
Running with Aero Glass disabled
Running as administrator
Running with MS Security Essentials realtime protection off
Running with the xbox wireless receiver unplugged
Disabling my IR receiver on my HTPC
None of these made any difference.
Oh... wow... amazing support response from Aspyr here.
Figured it out anyway... there is a file AspyrConfig.xml under the "%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Aspyr\Guitar Hero Aerosmith" directory that has a resolution tag and that was set to 1024x768 by default (same as GH3) but for some reason the game won't start at that resolution and it would with GH3 (my PC is 1920x1080). Anyway... just changed the resolution to my systems 1920x1080 and voila! works perfectly now.
