Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions (Steam – Mac/Linux)

Q: When will Geometry Wars 3 be released on the Mac and Linux?

A: Geometry Wars 3 is now available on the Mac and Linux on Steam. A Mac App Store version will be releasing soon. (More info on the Mac App Store version of Geometry Wars 3 can be found below.)

Q: How much does Geometry Wars 3 for Mac and Linux cost? Where can I purchase it?

A: Geometry Wars 3 will cost $14.99/€11.99/£10.99. You may purchase the game directly from Steam, or you can also more directly support Aspyr Media by purchasing a Steam code from GameAgent.com.

Customers that are also GameAgent members can login to their account to find a note on the Geometry Wars 3 product page that will grant them a special 10% launch discount for a limited time. This offer expires on Tuesday, December 2.

Q: Will any Geometry Wars 3 DLC content be available for the Mac and Linux?

A: Yes, Aspyr will support all DLC for Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions on both Mac and Linux. Users may purchase and install any DLC for the game as it becomes available on their platform.

Q: Will Geometry Wars 3 for Mac and Linux support Steam Play?

A: Yes! All versions of Geometry Wars 3 on Steam will support Steam Play, meaning that when you purchase the game on any supported platform on Steam (Windows, Mac, or Linux), you get the game on all three.

Q: Does Geometry Wars 3 feature multiplayer? What about cross-platform multiplayer?

A: Yes to both! Geometry Wars 3 features both online competitive and cooperative cross-platform multiplayer. This means that Steam players on any supported platform (Windows, Mac, or Linux) may play with anyone else on any supported platform.

Please note that cross-platform multiplayer with Windows PC may not always be available, including at time of launch. There may be times when the Windows PC version of the game receives an update prior to the Mac and Linux versions of the game; this will temporarily prohibit Mac and Linux players from playing with Windows PC players. Once the Mac and Linux versions of Geometry Wars 3 receive the same update, cross-platform multiplayer with Windows PC will be re-enabled.

Please note that cross-platform multiplayer between Mac and Linux should always be available, as the update schedule for each should be identical. And, of course, online multiplayer with players on the same platform will also always be an option.

NOTE: Cross-platform multiplayer between Mac/Linux and Windows PC is NOT available at time of launch. Aspyr will update the game to enable cross-platform multiplayer as soon as they are able. Mac and Linux players may still play cross-platform with each other during this time.

Q: Are there any differences between Mac/Linux versions and Windows PC?

A: At time of launch, there are several differences between the Mac/Linux versions of Geometry Wars 3 and the Windows PC version:

  • PC displays keyboard inputs in menus and prompts, Mac/Linux only display Xbox controls
  • PC has video options in game, Mac/Linux do not
  • PC keyboard controls are different from Mac/Linux

These differences will be fixed in future updates.

Q: Will I be able to sync my game saves between the Windows PC, Mac, and Linux versions?

A: Yes, but with a caveat: saved games will NOT sync between Windows PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam Cloud.  Since the Mac and Linux versions of Geometry Wars 3 may frequently be in and out of sync with the Windows PC version, syncing game saves across platforms via Steam Cloud has been disabled.  This will ensure saved game data will not be lost or corrupt due to incompatible in-game content or other unforeseen reasons.  Users do have the option of transferring game saves via physical media (like a thumb drive) if they wish.

    Hello,

Would it be possible to support MFI controllers or do they only work on iOS devices? I've got the SteelSeries Stratus XL and it would be great to be able to use that on my MacBook too.

    Cheers!
